THIS IS JUST SOME SMALLER QUESTIONS WITHIN OUR COMPELLING QUESTION:) What is climate change? Climate change is the observations of the climate that shows a change over a period of time. How do we know that the climate is changing? Temperatures are getting warmer, Ice caps are melting, Ocean levels are rising. Is it natural or human caused? Not sure. There are many different opinions. Can you tell me some different views and/or opinions? Natural: There has been recorded geologic cycles that show the major increase or decrease in Earth's temperature. Human Caused: The human population is growing and there is more human activity.Never before has Earth gotten this hot in so little time.
A BIG THING THAT WE NEED TO RESEARCH: GREENHOUSE GASES!! What are they? Where are they found? What do they do? Green house gases come from all sorts of everyday activities
Climate change may result from both natural and human causes. The importance of human causes has been increasing during the past few decades.
Here is some information: When scientists talk about global climate change, they're talking about the global climate and a pattern of change that's happening over many years. One of the most important trends that scientists look at is the average temperature of the Earth, which has been increasing for many years. This is called global warming. Rising global temperatures lead to other changes around the world, such as stronger hurricanes, melting glaciers, and the loss of wildlife habitats. That's because the Earth's air, water, and land are all related to one another and to the climate. This means a change in one place can lead to other changes somewhere else. For example, when air temperatures rise, the oceans absorb more heat from the atmosphere and become warmer. Warmer oceans, in turn, can cause stronger storms. http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/kids/basics/concepts.html
The Earth is getting warmer because people are adding heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere, mainly by burning fossil fuels.
Some countries emit more CO2 into the atmosphere than others, and each country will be affected differently by the changing climate.
Here is some more info on the causes of greenhouse gases. Many natural and human-made gases contribute to the greenhouse effect that warms the Earth's surface. Water vapor (H2O) is the most important, followed by carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and the chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) used in air conditioners and many industrial processes.

Step 1: Ask a Compelling Quesiton
Why has climate change had such a big impact on Earth?
Step 2: Gather and Analyze Information
- The average temperature of the whole globe is getting warmer.
- There are more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
- Land use is changing.
- Global warming is just temperature changes while climate change is the over all climate.
- There is more human activity.

The greenhouse effect is a natural warming process. Carbon dioxide (CO2) and certain other gases are always present in the atmosphere (For more information on greenhouse gases see: Causes of Change).
